WordCamp KL will be held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel. Berjaya Times Square Hotel is strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and is conveniently linked and accessible by various modes of transportation.

Public Transport

The nearest transits are :

  • Imbi, on the monorail line
  • Bukit Bintang, on the MRT

Driving

If you’re driving to WordCamp KL, you can get directions to the venue by keying in ‘Berjaya Times Square‘ in your navigator.

If you are parking at the hotel or the mall, you can get a fixed-rate parking ticket for RM 12. Unlike previous years, you would not need to obtain any stamp for the parking ticket.

WCKL will be on the west wing (blue region). To get to the west wing from the parking lot, be sure to look out for blue signs that will lead you to the west wing. Once you are at the west wing, you can take lift that will take you to the 14th floor.

Directions to WordCamp KL from Berjaya Times Square Shopping Mall Main Entrance

  • Enter from Berjaya Times Square shopping mall’s main entrance and turn left.
  • The event hall will be located at the West Wing, so make sure you are at the correct wing. You should see shops such as Uniqlo and Samsung.
  • Continue straight pass the Samsung shop.
  • Walk pass a clothing store named LOL.
  • There will be a lift located beside the LOL clothing store. Take the lift to the 14th floor and you will arrive at WCKL.

WordCamp KL 2019 needs you!

All WordCamps need volunteers to run the show alongside event organisers. Everything from the swag station to ticket sales and microphones is set up and managed by volunteers.

Why volunteer?

The quality of a WordCamp depends entirely on the people who give their time to make it happen. Being a volunteer is more than lending a hand, it is the secret sauce that makes a WordCamp a WordCamp!

Transportation

Kuala Lumpur is truly the heart of Malaysia as it is known for its various public transportation routes that create a hassle-free navigation to your favorite places. For affordable prices and a greener way to travel, here are some of the most popular ways to get around Kuala Lumpur:

KLIA Express/ KLIA Transit (ERL)

  • The KLIA Express provides a convenient way to travel between airports KLIA, KLIA2 and KL Sentral. There are also optional airport pickup services provided. The KLIA Express train times are every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes during off peak hours
  • The KLIA Transit on the other hand makes stops at stations KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya, KLIA and KLIA2. The train frequency is every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes during off peak hours.
  • To get to Berjaya Times Square by ERL, take a ride to KL Sentral station and take a monorail to Imbi station and walk for 5 minutes to Berjaya Times Square Hotel or take a 4 minute Grab ride to the venue.

MRT

  • The MRT provides passage through various stations along the Sungai Buloh – Kajang line. 
  • There are several Park N’ Ride’ facility in MRT stations whereby you can park your car at a parking facility for a flat rate of RM4.30 per day. Read here for more details.
  • Passengers can opt to use Touch N’ Go, use an MRT card or purchase tokens at an MRT station.To get to Berjaya Times Square by MRT, ride to Bukit Bintang station and Grab to Berjaya Times Square Hotel or walk for 9 mins to the venue using your smartphone to navigate.

LRT

  • The Light Rapid Transit (LRT) services, consist of the Ampang line LRT, Sri Petaling line LRT and Kelana Jaya line LRT
  • The Ampang / Sri Petaling line LRT is integrated with Kelana Jaya line LRT at Putra Heights station and Masjid Jamek station. These stations allow commuters to transfer from one line to another without the need to buy a new ticket.
  • Passengers can opt to use Touch N’ Go, unlimited pass MY50/MY100 or purchase tokens at an LRT station.
  • To get to Berjaya Times Square by LRT, get on the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line and interchange at the Hang Tuah LRT station to the KL Monorail line and ride to Imbi station. KTMB

  • KTMB has 3 railway routes namely the Batu Caves – Tampin line, Tanjung Malim – Kepong line and KL Sentral – Pelabuhan Klang line
  • Passengers can use Touch N’ Go or Komuter Link card top-up card
  • To get to Berjaya Times Square Hotel, take a ride from a nearby KTM station and get down at KL Sentral. After that, take a monorail to Imbi station and walk for 5 minutes or take a 4 minute Grab ride to the venue.

KL Monorail

  • The KL Monorail has 11 stops beginning at KL Sentral and ending at Titiwangsa
  • Passengers can opt to use Touch N’ Go, unlimited pass MY50/MY100 or purchase tokens at a monorail station.
  • To get to Berjaya Times Square Hotel, get on a monorail to Imbi station and walk for 5 minutes or take a 4 minute Grab ride to the venue.

GO KL City Bus

  • GO KL City Bus has 4 different routes around KL namely GO Relax, GO Work, GO Sightsee and GO Shopping
  • Go KL is FREE of charge, has Wi-Fi service, is disabled-friendly and complemented with Park N’ Ride facility.
  • The frequency of GO KL busses are 5 minutes on peak hours and 10 minutes off-peak hours.
  • The easiest way to get to Berjaya Times Square Hotel by GO KL is via the GO Sightsee route where you would have to get down at the Bukit Bintang bus station and Grab or walk for 9 mins to the venue using your smartphone to navigate.

It’s our mission to have WordCamp Kuala Lumpur represent the passion, skill, and diversity of the Malaysian community, and we want you to be a part of it! We are looking for speakers to share their knowledge, expertise, experience, and stories at WordCamp Kuala Lumpur, happening November 2, 2019 at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.

What You Need To Know If Applying

  • Each presentation will be 30 minutes / 15 minutes long. Workshops will be 1-2 hours long.
  • Spellcheck, check for placeholder text and use correct capitalisation for WordPress and WordCamp.
  • Please submit no more than two proposals. Multiple submissions are definitely not required but will help your chances.
  • Your talk title, description, and a short bio will be copied as-is.
  • Use your real, full name (first and last).
  • A clear talk title is better than a clever one—don’t make attendees work to figure out what your talk is about.
  • Enter a detailed presentation description. Descriptions that are vague, unhelpful, or incomplete may not be considered—explain what attendees will learn or get out of the session.
  • Submit your proposed topic title, description, and your bio in the third person, as if it were the final version to be printed or posted on the website.
  • Your talk should be directly related to WordPress, or immediately applicable and relevant to our audience.
  • All talks should be in English or Bahasa Melayu
